Dear Readers,

It is with great pleasure and much anticipation that I present you with this year’s first issue of The Chronicle. I would first and foremost like to extend a warm welcome back to campus. For the freshman and transfer students, you’ve joined us at a unique and exciting time. This is without a doubt a rebuilding year for The Chronicle as we make our way into the fall semester with a completely new staff, including myself.
Our editors come from a broad range of backgrounds, but also with an equal desire to make The Chronicle the best that it has ever been.
While some may feel that The Chronicle has been taken into the hands of administration and that our content will be closely watched and controlled, I can assure you that this is not the case. We are still a student-run newspaper that covers, and will continue to cover, hard news. As journalists, we have a responsibility to inform our readers of what is happening on this campus.
And we fully intend to do just that.
It is important to keep in mind that not only are we responsible for informing our readers, but we are also responsible for presenting ourselves in the most ethical and professional way possible.
With that said, I feel that any controversy, false beliefs and hard feelings that surrounded The Chronicle at the end of last year and have been carried onto campus this year, must be put aside.
As many of you know, the former editorial board of The Chronicle has ventured out into the world of independence and created an online newspaper called The QUAD News. While they are not recognized by the University as a student organization, their publication inspires what I feel to be healthy competition.
Let it be known that there are no hard feelings between the two publications, and I would personally like to wish Jason Braff and the rest of his staff the best of luck in their endeavors this year.
The Chronicle is still alive, and it will continue to serve the Quinnipiac community in the best way possible. We look forward to continuing a long-standing tradition here at Quinnipiac and we hope that you join us on our journey for the issues to come.
