Something must be done

Being 18 years of age does not prevent the little child who finds a gun and uses it as a toy on his siblings.

Violence is everywhere, from television, to lyrics of a song to the recent war with Afghanistan. The United States wrongfully promotes violence by having no form of proper gun control.

There needs to be some parameters to where guns should be stored. Innocent people and children are dieing because of the extreme popularity of violence that surrounds our world today.

According “To Bowling for Columbine” in the United States last year, 11,182 people were killed because of guns. This statistic is the highest anywhere in the world. In Canada, where almost every household has a gun, there were less than 100 deaths.

The second article to the Amendments of the constitution of the United States of America provides: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Those who advocate the importance of guns argue guns are essential for protection.

There has been a decline in educational standards regarding gun control because of the recent decrease in deaths caused by guns. Guns make it easier to kill and injure people.

The debate over gun control has increased following prominent acts of violence committed with guns, such as the Columbine High School shooting.

However, this is not enough to advocate change. Gun control needs to be an important concern all the time for the safety of every person around the world.

Some gun manufacturers have volunteered support for safety locks, but the National Rifle Association has criticized the measure as another attack on gun owners.

The NRA, a prominent voice in the gun debate, says firearm control measures would not be needed if lawmakers would enforce current law.Without set laws on gun control United States leaders are in no right to scrutinize those who advocate or go against gun control because each individual is entitled to his or her own opinion.0% of people have died from being shot by guns when the other person did not have a gun. It should be a priority of the United States to educate people on the powerful effects of gun control. Otherwise, Maryland’s current tragedy might become a common occurrence.
