Dear Joe Pelletier (Editor-in-chief),
While I appreciate your opinion and thank you for providing publicity toward our event, I whole heartedly disagree that our efforts were misguided. You are right about a few things however, we certainly cannot forget about the Montgomery bus boycott and we should honor and thank them. As one of the participates standing out in the cold giving out hot chocolate and support buttons, I felt truly humbled being able to express my gratitude. You also failed to mention the strong sense of community that was developed amongst the 1955 Montgomery bus boycotters. The sense of community that I witnessed today and that Quinnipiac University prides itself on. As Quinnipiac students happily accepted the much needed hot chocolate and wore their support buttons with pride, I didn’t feel misguided I felt proud. In life people can easily make inaccurate judgment calls sitting from the side lines, perhaps next time you should put yourself in the game in order to make an accurate assessment.

Adam, the fact that you and your group didn’t feel misguided doesn’t change the fact that it was still a very nonsensical gesture on your group’s part. Really.
The problem is that you called it a “boycott” of the QU shuttle services as a way to honor the Civil Rights Movement. That makes no sense. Absolutely none.
What your group probably meant was a “historical re-enactment” for the sake of remembrance. Personally, I think there were probably better and more profound incidents/moments during that time which BSU could have also chosen to honor– but whatever. Do you see the difference between an actual “boycott” and “historical re-enactment”?
Anyway, you and Quanita’s melodramatic attack against Joe Pelletier are simply uncalled for and very childish. At the very least… next time you do so, especially as a college senior, you might want to consider writing in complete, grammatically correct sentences. Since when is “participate” a noun, for example? Even your title makes no sense. Did you maybe mean “We should not forget, and our efforts were not misguided”?
When you do something in a public forum, you take the risk of being misunderstood, unappreciated, or even mocked. But JP was only stating his opinion (which the vast majority of the campus shared) in calm and rational way.
Please grow up and stop these temper tantrums. It only makes you and your group look even sillier. Sorry, but that’s the honest truth. I hope BSU will do a more appropriate and thoughtful job next year.
